For Immediate Release - Bucks County, PA - Artistry in Photography, a publishing house focused on historic photography, announced the release of Tell Them All About It, Won’t You? Images of the Present, Voices of the Past ... Gettysburg; a visual and emotional look at the Battle of Gettysburg by historic landscape photographer Helen S. Schwartz. Additional features include commentary and text by writer Katharine A. Sloan. Tell Them All About It, Won’t You? was completely produced and printed in the United States using all domestic materials. Tell Them All About It, Won’t You? features 48 original contemporary photographs of Gettysburg National Military Park accompanied by a quote from a solider or civilian who was present at the location at the time of the battle. The quotes detail the experiences of the men and women, both Union and Confederate, as well as the civilians who were present during the Civil War. The quotes provide a gut-wrenching look at the realities of American history including one from Abner R. Smalls, “One poor fellow, about 25 years of age, was shot through the body. His wants were few. ‘Only a drink of water. I am so, so cold. Won’t you cover me up?’ And then his mind wandered, murmuring something about, ‘Dear Mother. So glad tis all over.’ And would I write to his father and tell him how he died; how he loved them at home. ‘Tell them about it, won’t you?’ I covered his face ... he was some mother’s darling.” This unique look at one of America’s most historic sites bridges the gap between tales of the past and the education of the future. History has never been presented in such a poignant way as in Tell Them All About It, Won’t You? which finally gives a voice to those who lived through the experience. “I walked the battlefields and heard the call of history,” said photographer Helen Schwartz. “I hope after reading Tell Them All About It, Won’t You?, people are enticed to learn more about American history and the importance of the preservation of our battlefields for future generations. History is best learned by feeling connected to the past and Tell Them All About It, Won’t You? offers real-life emotion within a historical context. This is the perfect gift for any history or Americana lover.” Photographer Helen Schwartz was born in Philadelphia and currently resides in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. As a professional photographer, Schwartz has won numerous awards. Her work can be seen at national parks and historic sites throughout the country.
