For Immediate Release - Westhampton, PA - Patchwork Farm Press is pleased to announce that their semi-biographical work of poetry, A Kind of Yellow, recently won first prize in Writer’s Digest International’s 13th Annual Self-Published Book Competition. A Kind of Yellow is the first book by author Patricia Lee Lewis. A Kind of Yellow exposes the raw emotion of loss, grief, and celebration. Narrated by a voice that chronicles a woman from adolescence to adulthood, this collection of poems addresses harsh realities of life such as teen pregnancy, domestic violence, and a child’s suicide. Lewis weaves personal experiences with creative license and produces a touching fictional story of renewal and redemption. Following the trying experiences of the narrator, A Kind of Yellow offers readers a sense of hope and acceptance. Inspiration is the goal of the narrator. She offers her stories in order to make the audience aware that they too can overcome obstacles and experience happiness again. The poetry collection also encourages readers to expose their deepest emotions to the outside world through writing, talking, or creating. A Kind of Yellow is ideal for all poetry lovers, teen parents, victims of domestic violence or those affected by it, mothers of troubled children, social workers, healthcare providers, and English/Poetry professors. “It is my deepest hope that these poems speak to individuals in need, granting them the courage to go on and express their needs and emotions,” said author Patricia Lee Lewis. “Writing A Kind of Yellow has taught me a lot about the human spirit. It can be broken, it can be renewed, and sharing your thoughts with others can sometimes help that process. A Kind of Yellow will offer life lessons for all readers in all stages of their life.” Patricia Lee Lewis was born in Austin, Texas and currently resides in Westhampton, Massachusetts. For the past ten years, Lewis has been a writing workshop leader and yoga instructor at Patchwork Farm in Massachusetts as well as numerous sacred sites around the world. Her work has been featured in numerous national newspapers, literary anthologies, magazines, and journals, including The Berkshire Review.
